Hannelore R. Leavy – President & Executive Director
The Day Spa Association /International Medical Spa Association

Hannelore R. Leavy is the Founder, President, and Executive Director of the Day Spa Association. Hannelore has been a strong voice for the spa industry since the mid-eighties, and is considered a major source for information on spas in general and the day spa industry in particular, which she started to identify as early as 1991. In 1994, she published the first DAY SPA DIRECTORY.

Ana Loiselle-Donahue, Chair/Corporate Liaison

Ana Loiselle-Donahue
With almost 10 years experience in new business start-ups and transformations, Ana Loiselle-Donahue is a specialist in finding new sources of revenue and growth for companies of all sizes. She founded theSECRET Salon & Spa by Design in 2004 to help businesses flourish through creative —and powerful —new solutions; including brand development, strategic financial planning and employee training.
She has already helped numerous companies improve their performance through innovative business practices. Her process is based on six key steps - Systems, Economics, Compensation, Retention, Education and Teamwork.
Ana's background includes a long career in the salon/spa industry as a product sales representative, educator, management consultant, and spa owner. Her leadership foresight was influential in making her former business, Anna Luis Salon & Day Spa a two time National award winner of Salon Today's Top 200 Fastest Growing Salons.
She holds a license in both cosmetology and aesthetics, making her more then just a consultant but a true mentor and coach. She speaks on topics related to new business start-ups, trends and marketing strategies.
Building on her distinctive SECRET Foundation, Ana believes every owner must build their own unique brand from the inside, or few will believe it on the outside.

Eric J. Light, Chair/International Chapters

Eric J. Light is one of the founders of the Strawberry Hill Group (UK) Limited, a 27 year old business development and design firm in England with a major interest in the hospitality, spa and wellness industries. While residing in England, Mr. Light was responsible for the business design and development of spa and wellness projects in England, Greece and Spain.

Mr. Light left The Strawberry Hill Group in 1980 to join Procter and Gamble as a Senior Manager. During his career with Procter and Gamble, Mr. Light worked on a number of national and international health and beauty projects. In addition, he worked on the development of a global strategy for Procter and Gamble's involvement in the spa industry. Mr. Light has visited 87 different countries and talked with over 2,000 consumers about their spa experiences.

In 2001, Mr. Light rejoined The Strawberry Hill Group of Companies as President of North and Latin American operations. The Strawberry Hill Group, Inc. represents the company's first venture into the North and Latin American marketplace and is currently working with clients in Florida, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Vermont, and Mexico on the design of new businesses or the revamping of existing facilities and programs.

Mr. Light attended the University of Mexico, Temple University in Philadelphia, and Trinity and All Saints Colleges, England. He holds degrees in anthropology, communications and perceptual psychology. Mr. Light has lectured extensively in the United States, Europe, and Latin America about the business development process, techniques for concept and vision creation, and consumer perceptions. He has been interviewed by numerous print and broadcast media outlets in the United States and Europe, and is a member of the Day Spa Association.

Larry Oskin
has often been referred to as a "Marketing ChangeMaster" and a "Guerrilla Marketeer". He is a creative beauty industry executive with excellent development, planning and initiating abilities. Stephen M. Schleicher, MD, Medical Advisor

Dr. Schleicher brings over twenty years of experience in the field of dermatology. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Rutgers University, received his medical degree with academic honors from the Hahnemann Medical College and completed his dermatology residency at the Temple Skin and Cancer Hospital. The author of two books and over fifty journal articles, Dr. Schleicher serves on the Medical Board of Emergency Medicine magazine and has co-hosted the cable television show, Skin Sense, and the radio show, Speaking of Your Skin.  Founder and director of the DermDx Centers for Dermatology, he has travelled throughout Europe investigating skin care products as a consultant to the health and beauty industries. A pioneer in the field of teledermatology, his medical columns are viewed on a monthly basis by over 150,000 family practitioners. With offices in northeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Schleicher is clinical instructor of dermatology at Kings College and Arcadia University.


   

Rosemary Weiner, Member at Large

Rosemary Weiner serves as a “member at large” for the DSA Advisory Board. She the current President and CEO of RTW, Inc.  She provides consulting services to spas and salons. She is the previous owner, founder, and CEO of The Brass Rose Spa and Salon. She has previously served as the Chair of the Day Spa Association Advisory Board from 2006 – 2009 and was the Legislative Chair for that same organization from 2004 – 2006. She is a frequent speaker on topics associated with best business practices for spas and salons and has published numerous articles and blogs associated with the salon and spa industry.

Rosemary is also one of the founding members of the New Jersey Association of Salon & Spa Professionals and is the current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of this organization. She also currently serves on the Advisory Boards of two New Jersey Cosmetology schools.  She has also previously served as a member of the New Jersey Coalition of Massage, Bodywork and Somatic Therapies which participated in the development of the current massage legislation and regulations in New Jersey. 

Ms. Weiner is the recipient of The Day Spa Association Leadership Award, the Day Spa Association Healing Hearts Award and the Day Spa Association Spa Person of the Month Honor.  She was the recipient of the Warren County Entrepreneurial Award, the Army National Guard Citizen/Soldier/Hero Award for her support and charitable efforts on behalf of American soldiers and their families. Her prior business, The Brass Rose Spa & Salon, was the recipient of the Day Spa Association Distinguished Day Spa of the Year Award and the Nails Magazine Salon of the Year Award. Ms. Weiner and The Brass Rose Spa and Salon were frequently featured and quoted in numerous trade magazines including Nails Magazine, Salon Today, DaySpa Magazine, and Skin Inc.

Rosemary came to the spa and salon industry from both the medical field and the corporate world.  She combines her business acumen with her medical background to enhance her expertise in the spa and salon industry.  After practicing for many years as a nurse, Rosemary entered the private sector of the Health Care Industry where she became a Founding Partner and Vice President of a National Health Care Cost Containment company which became a Fortune 500 company within 3 years of inception.

During her nursing career, Rosemary served on the Governors’ Health Care Financing Task Force for New Jersey and was a consultant to the New Jersey Hospital Association and numerous hospitals and medical societies throughout the US, with respect to quality assurance standards and programs.  She conducted national seminars on the subject of cost containment and quality care and authored two books on the subject of quality assurance and health care financing.  She was a keynote speaker for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources first national conference on Medicare funding of health care and quality assurance issues. 

Rosemary has a long standing commitment and is no stranger to quality professional standards. 
During her nursing career she served on the Professional Standards Advisory Board of the State Medical Society.  She was Vice President of the Central New Jersey Professional Review Organization, a federal program that monitored the standards and quality of care for all Medicare patients and the hospitals within four counties in New Jersey.  She was the founder and first President of the Discharge Planning Coordinators of New Jersey

    Wayne “Skip” Williams
Vice-President - Spa Operations Consulting

Skip Williams, the author of “The Reluctant Spa Director and the Mission Dream”, and the recipient of the Spa Person of the Year award for 2006, is a recognized speaker and author in the spa arena, with over thirteen (13) years of experience in the Management, Financial Development & Operational fields, mostly in the Spa and Hospitality Industry as Spa Director, Controller and Business project Consultant.  He brings his previous years of analytical business experience in a broad variety of manufacturing, retail and service businesses to studying Resort Spas, Day Spas, Medical Spas, Wellness Centers, and Salons: their profitability, how they operate, and what makes them successful.

Mr. Williams has been involved in the development of well over 400 Spas throughout the US, Canada, and the Caribbean working with owners, planners, operators and potential owners. His approach is to study, analyze, educate, implement and cultivate both small and large-scale projects.

Well known for his a unique Computerized Business Model called "Build-A-Spa" that allows financial analyses and feasibility studies, he has taken Spa business modeling to new heights with “Financial Blueprint™ Feasibility Consulting.”  

Mr. Williams’ experience as a Spa Director and his direct involvement in various capacities in the opening of several Day and Resort Spas results in a combination of expertise and experience beneficial to any organization. In addition he is very active in the continuous education efforts and research in the industry.  He presently sits on the advisory board, for the Day Spa Association where he contributes time to our industry through published studies and education.

Mr. Williams has been a recognized contributor to trade journals such as Spa Management, Dermascope, Les Nouvelle Esthetique and Dermasthetic.  Additionally he has participated as a speaker-educator for Spacifically, International Congress of Esthetics, Face & Body, and Day Spa Expo educational programs.  Professional and consulting experience includes, but is not limited to such companies as; Mount View Spa, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co., Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, H.E.A.T. Spa-Kur Therapy Development Inc, Mirbeau Inn & Spa, Spa Hibiscus at Embassy Suites, Waters Edge Medical Spa and The Lodge at Eagles Nest.

Felicia Brown, Chair/Membership
Spalutions

Felicia is the owner of Spalutions!, (www.spalutions.com) a firm that provides business and marketing solutions for spa professionals through consulting, coaching and staff or CE training programs. She is a sought-after public speaker with appearances at numerous conferences and conventions in the massage and spa industry and was a featured speaker at the Spa & Quality Wellness Forum in Bronislawów, Poland in June 2008.

Felicia is passionate about inspiring others both in and out of the spa industry. Her personal philosophy is to share her knowledge and experience with others freely, even competitors, so that they may be successful in all of their endeavors. This practice of “cooperative competition” has been a cornerstone of her career ever since she first became a massage therapist in 1994. She continues to apply this way of thinking in her consulting and teaching.

Felicia has written for and been featured or quoted in numerous trade publications including DAYSPA, Spa Magazine, Skin, Inc., Massage Therapy Journal, Massage Magazine, Massage & Bodywork, Spa Management Journal and Dermascope. She is also the Assistant Editor for the Day Spa Bible 2nd Edition, a publication which is being put out by the Day Spa Association. She is also working on a marketing book for spas and has released her first CD, “Just Breathe: Guided Meditations for Inner Peace.”

Felicia has won numerous awards for her business skills and accomplishments. Most recently, she was awarded the 2009 Spa Person of the Year by the Day Spa Association and was also selected as one of the Top Entrepreneurs of 2009 and Top 25 Movers & Shakers of 2008 by Business Leader Magazine. Other awards include the 2005 Small Business Person of the Year (Greensboro Chamber of Commerce), 2004 Women in Business (The Business Journal), 2003 Forty Leaders Under Forty (The Business Journal), 2003 Best Places to Work (The Business Journal), and 2005 Best Spa in Greensboro (Triad Style). In 2007, she was also given an award for National Volunteer of the Year (committee) by the American Massage Therapy Association.

Felicia is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina. In her free time, Felicia enjoys running, yoga, reading, cooking, travel, and spa/travel adventures of most any sort. She also enjoys volunteer work and has worked in the past with the Melanoma Research Foundation, Greensboro Jaycees, Mobile Meals, Triad Health Project, The MS Society, and MDA to name a few. Felicia is married to David Clayton, and together they have a houseful of pets – four dogs and one cat - all of whom are rescued.


   

Monte Zwang, Chair/Research & Study Committee
Wellness Capital Management

Monte Zwang, Wellness Capital Management principal Monte Zwang is passionate about helping people reach their full potential.  He is an entrepreneur with more than 25 years of business development, capital management and financial consulting expertise in the wellness, hospitality and food services industries, as well as manufacturing and construction.  Monte holds his real estate broker license and has significant experience in transaction and contract negotiations for commercial real estate sales, acquisitions and leases. 

Monte co-founded Wellness Capital Management in 2005 to enable business owners to achieve the delicate balance between providing their clients exceptional customer service while being true to their goal of business profitability.  Since the inception of Wellness Capital Management, Zwang has developed budgets, feasibility studies and financial strategies for day spa and salon operators, physicians, wellness center owners and body workers. He has also assisted in debt restructuring, real estate transactions and leases. Zwang has taught business valuation and cash flow management workshops at regional banks, the Day Spa Expo (DSE), International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference (IECSC) and International Spa Association (ISPA) Conference and Expo.

Monte Zwang has been a business, operational and financial consultant for more than 25 years, teaching entrepreneurs and company leaders in real estate, food and beverage, resorts and hotels, and retail industries the strategies of cash flow management.  He has significant experience working with proprietors of day spas, salons and medical practices. 

As Managing Partner of Steele Development Corporation between 1991 and 2005, Zwang personally managed the financial strategies of hundreds of businesses. Steele Development Corporation is a financial consultancy that specializes in the cash flow management and business strategies for businesses in a distressed financial condition. Debt and tax negotiation, financial restructure, financing and business management were areas of specialization. Monte has sourced and placed tens of millions of dollars in financing for clients needing operating lines of credit, long term debt, business start-up capital and real estate acquisitions.  Monte's experience in financial analysis and business turnaround strategies has enabled businesses in many different industries a fresh start and clear direction towards profitability. 

As a consultant in the Leisure Times Industry division of Laventhol and Horwath CPA, Zwang performed market research, business feasibility studies and loan documents for hospitality and mixed use retail projects.
