| Tradeshow Report |

Returning from a very lively
panel discussion at
LifeTime Congress in Frankfurt, Germany, at
which I presented "The Merging of Old and New and
East and West", I had the pleasure of meeting
many old friends from around the world, going back
to the first Spa Symposium I coordinated in 1990!
I also made new friends and will be reporting on
this and my post conference spa trips to Wiesbaden
and Baden-Baden in the DSA monthly column in Spa
Management Journal.
Ex-tracts, New
York City is just behind us
and I would like to thank members Janet D'Angelo,
Linda Brewer and Bruce Schoenberg for
participating in an excellent presentation "How
to Open a Day Spa". Thank you to George
Little Show Management, the organizers of
Ex-tracts, for their courtesies and
collaboration. Attendees came away with a good
sense of what it takes to open and operate a
successful day spa business.
We are working on a full-day educational program for
their next show 11/12-15 in New York City, which
will take please in conjunction with the
Hotel/Motel and Restaurant Expo.

Nicole Sommers of Gents LLC conducted
a workshop -
"THE PRICE OF BEING CLEAN SHOULDN'T BE YOUR
HEALTH!!!
Do you realize that many chemicals linked to cancer,
birth defects and other health problems are getting
into your bodies, your breast milk and your
children? These chemicals are in the products you
shower and bathe with, rub, spray and dab on your
bodies, unknowingly, day-in and day-out.
Did you know that major loopholes in federal law
allow the multibillion dollar cosmetics industry to
basically police itself with an internally-funded
safety panel? Unlimited amounts of chemicals are
allowed into personal care products with no required
testing and inadequate labeling requirements.
If you missed the event on April 20th in NYC to
learn about Natural Alternatives, which took place
in NYC, contact Nicole Sommers @ 212 734-8348
and learn that contrary to popular perception, the
FDA does not evaluate products for safety before
they are brought to market. Read about the steps
being taken by the European Union to protect its 450
million people with laws prohibiting the use of many
ingredients in personal care products. ACT: Sign the
petition found at the website so that we can make
companies accountable for our and our clients'
safety.
